Applications are invited for the position of QA Automation Engineer working in a dynamic 5G benchmarking tool project. This team is responsible for the development of our solutions for testing and monitoring the core of modern telecom 5G Core networks based on 3GPP's 5G Services Based Architecture.
Current product is a containerized micro-services solution based on the latest available technologies including Docker, Asynchronous Python, HTTP/2, and OpenAPIv3 (and many more). It also leverages our existing Intellectual Property in C/C++, Virtualization, and high-scale network simulation, including new developments in all areas.
Working in this team, a successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining the framework and network functions that integrate our 5G test & monitoring solution. This role provides unparalleled exposure to the latest telecom standards and networking technologies.
Overall the project is a virtualized test/measurement solution that can emulate/measure millions of application streams. As a solution, it can be embedded in different test setups: OpenStack / Hybrid Cloud, Cyber Thread Analysis, Video delivery, Network Visualization Function, etc.
Development of automated/manual test cases for functional and non-functional requirements (% may vary as automation is desired, but could be averaged at 60% automation to 40% manual)
Development and update of test plans
Development of utility libraries using Python, as part of the test automation framework updates
Manual/Automated execution of test cases (emphasis is on automatic as part of the existing CI/CD pipelines)
Create, track & verify defects as part of test case execution
Identify & propose QA process improvements
Must have
Strong Python for test automation: pytest/unittest, fixtures, parametrization, custom framework design (not just script-writing) ; 6+ years
API test automation: REST/gRPC, contract testing, schema validation, tools like requests/httpx, Postman/Newman, or Karate ; 6+ years
Frontend automation: Selenium/Playwright/Cypress — stable locators, page-object patterns, handling async UI state and flaky-test mitigation ; 3+ years
CI/CD integration: wiring suites into Jenkins/GitLab CI, parallelization, reporting, and gating merges on results
Test strategy and design: risk-based test planning, boundary/negative case coverage, traceability back to requirements
Defect lifecycle ownership: root-causing failures (not just reporting "test failed"), writing high-quality bug reports, working failures through to resolution
5G/telecom domain knowledge: core network architecture (5GC — AMF/SMF/UPF/etc.), protocols (HTTP/2-based SBI, PFCP, NAS/NGAP), and how these map to test scenarios (signaling, throughput, session handling)
Working knowledge of network test concepts: traffic generation, DUT-based topologies, KPIs (latency, throughput, call/session success rate)
Nice to have
Performance/load testing tools (JMeter, Locust, k6) for API and network-level throughput testing
Protocol-level packet inspection (Wireshark, tcpdump) for debugging failures at the network layer
Containerized test environments (Docker/Kubernetes) for spinning up DUTs or mock services
Exposure to test infrastructure-as-code and environment provisioning (Terraform/Ansible)
Familiarity with O-RAN/RAN-side concepts if the role touches beyond core network testing
Experience with observability tooling (Grafana/Prometheus, ELK) for correlating test failures with system metrics
