Support Varian's Global Cloud Operations as a Senior Network Escalation Engineer, serving as the lead escalation point for complex network issues across public, private, and hybrid cloud environments. The role focuses on ensuring high availability, performance, and security of enterprise cloud infrastructure in collaboration with global teams, customers, and technology partners.

Responsibilities

Act as senior escalation point for network-related incidents in cloud environments.

Lead troubleshooting efforts across public, private, and hybrid cloud infrastructure.

Collaborate with Service, Operations, Security teams, customer IT, Telco partners, Microsoft, and Palo Alto Networks.

Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and provide incident summaries and written escalation updates.

Support enterprise-grade network security, availability, and performance initiatives.

Contribute to cloud infrastructure projects and operational improvements.

Create and maintain technical documentation and network diagrams.

Escalate urgent cases with vendors and service providers following proper support paths.

Skills

Must have

Degree in computer science, or other engineering or technical discipline is preferred, or equivalent (7-10 years of additional specific relevant experience may be substituted for education).

Experience in supporting and managing networks in an enterprise cloud computing environment. o Deep understanding of network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, ARP,), addressing, NAT and subnetting, CIDR. o Routing and Switching expertise in dynamic routing protocols like OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, and MPLS. Experience with VLANs, STP, and layer 2/3 concepts. o Network Performance Analysis, with the ability to interpret packet captures using tools like Wireshark, tcpdump, iperf, or SolarWinds as examples. o Network Performance Analysis: Ability to interpret packet captures using tools like Wireshark, tcpdump, iperf, or SolarWinds for example. o WAN and VPN knowledge of technologies such as MPLS, SD-WAN, IPsec, and SSL VPNs. Microsoft ExpressRoute experience preferred. o Skills in hybrid networking setups and cloud-based solutions. Azure Virtual Network. o Hands-on experience with including hands-on experience with routers, switches, load balancers, and firewalls (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Citrix NetScaler, etc.). o

Network Security Concepts o Expertise in firewalls, IDS/IPS systems, access control lists (ACLs), and DDoS mitigation. o Authentication and Encryption knowledge of RADIUS, TACACS+, PKI, and SSL/TLS.

Hands on experience troubleshooting telecom/peering partner/peering provider networks. Understanding of vendor and telco/exchange/service providers support escalation paths and being able to escalate support requests to these vendors in a typically urgent and timely fashion.

Experience with ticket handling and processing.
