To perform the Functional Business Analyst role for a banking transformation project supporting the end-to-end SME loan origination journey. The role will focus on understanding business processes, gathering requirements from business stakeholders, defining functional requirements and supporting the delivery of lending solutions for SME customers.
The role will work closely with business stakeholders, architects and engineering teams delivering a home-grown lending platform built using Java, Spring Boot, microservices and React. The BA will be expected to translate business requirements into clear functional requirements and effectively explain the expected business behaviour, workflows and integrations to the development team.

Responsibilities

Work closely with business stakeholders, SME Banking, Credit, Risk, Operations and other relevant teams to understand SME lending requirements.

Understand and document the end-to-end SME loan origination process, from customer application through assessment, approval and loan disbursement.

Analyse existing lending processes and identify opportunities for process improvement and system enhancements.

Gather, analyse and document business and functional requirements.

Translate business requirements into clear functional requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.

Understand requirements around SME customer onboarding, loan applications, credit assessment, approval workflows and loan processing.

Understand and document business rules, eligibility criteria, credit policies, approval authorities and workflow requirements.

Analyse requirements related to SME loan products, facilities, limits, pricing, fees, collateral and repayment terms.

Work with Credit and Risk teams to understand credit assessment and decision-making requirements within the loan origination process.

Identify process gaps, dependencies and impacts across upstream and downstream banking processes.

Prepare functional specifications, process flows, business requirement documents and other project documentation.

Work closely with Java, Spring Boot, microservices and React development teams to explain business requirements, functional behavior and expected outcomes.

Translate business requirements into clear functional specifications that can be understood and implemented by development teams.

Participate in technical discussions with architects and developers to understand how business requirements will be implemented and identify any functional gaps or impacts.

Understand application workflows, API interactions, integrations and data flows at a functional level to effectively communicate requirements to engineering teams.

Review proposed solutions and provide functional clarification to developers throughout the implementation lifecycle.

Conduct requirement walkthroughs and obtain agreement and sign-off from business stakeholders.

Work closely with the implementation team to clarify functional requirements and ensure the delivered solution meets business expectations.

Support SIT and UAT activities by preparing test scenarios, reviewing test cases and coordinating with business users.

Support defect analysis by clarifying expected business behavior and validating fixes.

Coordinate with business stakeholders during UAT and support successful implementation of changes.

Support production implementation, post-implementation validation and resolution of functional issues

Skills

Must have

8+ years of working experience.

Strong experience as a Functional Business Analyst in Banking / Financial Services.

Strong functional knowledge of Loan Origination / Lending processes.

Hands-on functional experience in SME / Commercial Lending.

Good understanding of the end-to-end SME loan lifecycle, from application to approval and disbursement.

Strong understanding of loan products, credit assessment, lending processes and approval workflows.

Experience working with Credit, Risk, Operations and SME Banking stakeholders.

Good understanding of business rules, eligibility criteria, credit policies and approval authorities.

Experience in requirements gathering, business process analysis and functional documentation.

Strong experience preparing BRDs, FRDs, process flows, user stories and acceptance criteria.

Ability to work effectively with engineering teams building Java, Spring Boot, microservices and React-based applications.

Good understanding of APIs, integrations, application workflows and data flows from a functional perspective.

Ability to clearly explain business requirements and functional behavior to developers and challenge/clarify implementation assumptions where required.

Strong experience in SIT and UAT coordination and business validation.

Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Ability to work with business users and delivery teams in a large banking transformation programme.

Experience in SME Banking transformation projects.

Experience with commercial / business lending products.

Experience with credit decisioning and credit assessment processes.

Experience with loan workflow and approval automation.

Experience with Loan Origination System implementations or enhancements.

Experience working on a home-grown / custom-built banking application.

Experience working with Java / Spring Boot / microservices-based applications from a Functional BA perspective.

Experience working with React-based frontend applications.

Experience understanding API specifications, integrations and microservice interactions.

Banking experience in Singapore or APAC.
