In this position you will support our department of in-car HMI concept design with the development of digital, tangible concept prototypes and mockups. These prototypes and mockups accompany the entire process ranging from the concept ideation to visual design of digital in-car experiences (HMI concepts). You will work closely with experts from our concept development and design teams. You will actively support these teams to ensure the design and functional quality of our in-car HMI concepts.
Responsibilities
Design, build, and present interactive experience prototypes in a fast-paced, international environment.
Willingness and ability to collaborate with designers, UX team and suppliers to refine the user experience from a technical implementation perspective.
Provide both technical and creative input to the planning phase of new projects. Judge feasibility, timeline, and budget requirements.
Deploy, support, and deliver demos in high-profile company presentations.
Understand that frequent change is part of the creative process and enable an agile workflow.
Be an active member of the concept design team, contributing to every phase of the project with prototyping, technical innovation, validation, and turning ideas into reality.
Have an inquisitive interest in the latest prototyping and development techniques and libraries. Proactively define own projects, that are relevant to the concept design team, to explore push new technologies and methodologies in the field.
Maintain and extend our innovative prototyping lab and other related facilities.
Qualifications
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Interaction/ Industrial Design or similar.
Knowledge of common UX, design and prototyping tools (including Protopie, Figma, Photoshop).
Familiar with software development in common game engines such as Unity or Unreal.
Experience with physical prototyping tools such as 3D printers and related 3D modeling software (e.g., Rhino, Solidworks).
Basic electrical engineering skills such as soldering, basic circuit design and PCB design/manufacturing.
Basic coding skills for embedded systems (e.g., Arduino, MicroPython)
Experience and familiarity with a range of prototyping tools and solutions (hardware and software).
Demonstrated portfolio of rapid prototyping, solution delivery and transition to production.
Demonstrable maker mindset, and strong creative problem solving skills.
Written and spoken English.
Must have
Experience in working with agile methodology, e.g. Scrum
Experience in using project management tools, e.g. Jira, Confluence
English skills
Native Chinese speaker
Automotive experience
Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate effectively in small and large intercultural groups at all levels of a client organization.
Ability to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks, and work within deadlines with minimal supervision.
Nice to have
Advanced degree, or equivalent experience, in human-computer interaction (HCI), interaction/media design, cognitive and/or experimental psychology, or comparable study is desired
Knowledge in usability, interaction design and user experience including developing concepts, scenarios and rapid prototyping
Working experience in technical writing, requirements engineering, business analyst positions, or similar
Automotive experience
