Murex Finance / Front Office Business Analyst

This role is with a large Australian bank using Murex for FX, Commodities trading, and as a market risk engine. The position requires a seasoned Finance Business Analyst with expertise in Murex Accounting, Pricing, Market Data, and Curve setup. The candidate will support stakeholders across Accounting, Finance, and Product Control to deliver both regulatory and business-driven change initiatives, as well as provide production support.
Partner with Front Office, Finance, Product Control, and Operations teams to gather requirements for new change initiatives and resolve day-to-day issues.
Configure and maintain Murex Accounting setup, including sub-ledger and GL mappings.
Deliver finance and product control reports for P&L, Balance Sheet, and reconciliation processes.
Manage valuation, reconciliation, and end-of-day processing, ensuring consistency across Front Office, Finance, and Risk views.
Support Finance and Product Control changes for regulatory reporting requirements (e.g., APRA, Basel 2.5).
Facilitate workshops with end users, prepare and execute UAT, and provide post go-live support during hypercare.
Collaborate with developers, QA, and interface teams on technical and functional deliveries.
Must have
10+ years of experience as a Finance / Front Office Business Analyst in capital markets.
5+ years of experience working on Murex platform (BA or functional support).
Strong expertise in Murex Accounting, Simulation, and Sub-ledger reporting.
Deep understanding of financial products: FX, IRD, Fixed Income, Commodities.
Knowledge of Market Data setup and curve configuration in Murex.
Experience preparing charts of accounts and configuring accounting rules in Murex.
Strong grasp of accounting methodologies (MTM, Accrual) and valuation measures (NPV, Fee discounting, Realized/Unrealized P&L, WHT).
Expertise in P&L variance analysis, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Proficiency in SQL, data analysis, and reporting tools.
Hands-on experience with requirements and test management tools (e.g., JIRA, Rally, Confluence).
Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
Nice to have
Knowledge of APRA, Basel 2.5, IFRS, and regulatory frameworks.
Experience in hedge accounting for derivatives (Fair Value, Cash Flow hedging).
Understanding of Murex workflows, DataMart, and downstream system integrations.
Professional certifications such as CA, CPA, CFA, or FRM.
