Project is a strategic automation and operational resilience initiative that focuses on scaling the capabilities of an internally built AWS-based platform designed to automate operational checks, manual processes, and Excel-based end-user developed applications (EUDAs).
Project aims to materially reduce significant operational risks and reliance on manual controls by onboarding high‑risk and high‑volume operational processes into an internal platform and increasing automation levels across the operational landscape.
Own and shape the technical architecture for automation solutions on AWS, leveraging serverless and event‑driven patterns
Provide technical leadership and hands‑on guidance to mid‑level automation engineers
Balance technical design decisions with business outcomes, prioritising resilience, scalability, and time‑to‑value
Review designs and code to ensure quality, security, and maintainability
Act as a senior technical point of contact for stakeholders and delivery leadership
Collaborate closely with Operations, Technology, and Business stakeholders to understand operational processes, risks, and control requirements
Build and maintain a comprehensive inventory of manual processes, EUDAs, and operational checks, including linkage to key controls
Design, develop, test, and deploy automated checks and processes
Increase automation coverage across operational checklists, manual processes, and EUDAs, reducing manual effort and human error
Integrate monitoring, alerting, and scheduling solutions (e.g. Control‑M, Geneos, Datadog) into automated workflows
Contribute to the delivery of Health Dashboards, providing real‑time operational resilience insights for senior stakeholders
Work within an agile delivery framework, contributing to sprint planning, backlog refinement, demos, and continuous improvement
Ensure solutions meet security, resilience, and SDLC standards, with appropriate documentation and version control
Must have
Strong experience in cloud architecture (AWS preferred), including designing scalable and resilient systems.
Deep understanding of serverless patterns (AWS Lambda, event-driven architectures).
Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform for provisioning and managing cloud resources.
Experience with container platforms (e.g., Kubernetes/EKS) and microservices-based architectures.
Proven experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with a focus on secure software delivery practices.
Strong system integration expertise, including APIs, data pipelines, and scheduling/orchestration tools.
Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Datadog, Geneos, or similar tools.
Ability to balance technical design decisions with business outcomes and priorities.
Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams, driving best practices and engineering excellence.
Proficiency in Python or Java for automation, tooling, and backend development.
Nice to have
Experience in financial services or regulated environments, with exposure to operational risk and control frameworks
Knowledge of operational resilience concepts, including controls, audits, and evidence automation
Experience delivering service or business health dashboards for senior stakeholders
Familiarity with observability, monitoring, and alerting best practices (SRE or production support)
Experience modernising manual or Excel‑based (EUDA) processes into governed automation platforms
Strong stakeholder management skills across Operations, Technology, and Controls teams
