AMD is building a hardware-assisted security platform that uses silicon-level Performance Monitoring Counters (PMCs) and on-chip machine learning to detect advanced endpoint threats (ransomware, fileless malware, cryptojacking) at the processor layer, below OS-based evasion. The platform collects CPU behavioral telemetry, classifies it via an ML inference engine, and exposes threat signals to security-software partners through a standardized API. The team covers the full stack: silicon telemetry, ML training/validation, real-time inference, lab qualification and CI/CD.
Configure and maintain physical AMD PRO lab systems and isolated VM environments used for security validation.
Develop automated test harnesses that safely execute malware samples and capture CPU telemetry (PMC events, instruction-based sampling traces, instruction mix).
Instrument lab systems to collect and validate hardware performance counter data against known threat behavioral signatures.
Provide labeled telemetry datasets to the ML engineering team.
Execute functional and performance qualification tests for the kernel-mode PMU driver across multiple AMD platform generations.
Document lab procedures, test specifications, hardware configurations and asset lifecycle records.
Support security-software partner lab engagements.
Report hardware anomalies, driver defects and telemetry accuracy issues with clear reproduction steps.
Must have
3+ years of hands-on lab or hardware validation engineering experience. Working knowledge of CPU microarchitecture: branch prediction, cache hierarchy, instruction pipelines.
Experience with hardware performance monitoring tools (e.g. perf, platform profilers or equivalent).
Proficiency in Python or similar scripting language for test automation. Experience with virtualization platforms for secure, isolated test environments.
Familiarity with Windows and/or Linux system internals at the kernel level.
Nice to have
Experience with endpoint security tools, EDR platforms or malware analysis sandboxes.
Familiarity with AMD profiling tools or AMD processor architecture. Exposure to kernel driver development (Windows Driver Kit or Linux kernel modules).
Awareness of common attack categories and threat classification frameworks.
