One of the biggest UK rail network companies operating with rail infrastructure and asset management has a need to develop and support enterprise-level information systems.

We are seeking an experienced L2/L3 NSX Architect to design, implement, and support advanced VMware NSX network virtualization solutions. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the stability, scalability, and security of our virtualized network infrastructure. This position requires both deep technical knowledge and strong leadership in architectural design, implementation best practices, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and architecture of VMware NSX environments, ensuring alignment with business and technical requirements.

Provide advanced L2/L3 operational support, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and incident resolution.

Deploy, configure, and maintain NSX-T Data Center components and integrations with VMware vSphere and related platforms.

bullet icon

Implement and manage micro-segmentation, distributed firewalls, and routing policies to enhance network security.

bullet icon

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support infrastructure modernization and network automation initiatives.

bullet icon

Maintain detailed design documentation, network diagrams, and operational procedures.

Provide mentorship and knowledge transfer to engineering and operations teams.

Participate in capacity planning, performance tuning, and continuous improvement of network services.

Skills

Must have

bullet icon

Minimum 5 years of experience in enterprise networking and virtual network environments.

bullet icon

At least 3 years of hands-on experience with VMware NSX

bullet icon

Strong understanding of L2/L3 networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF), VPNs, VLANs, and network security principles.

Experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter management.

bullet icon

Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in complex, multi-tiered environments.

Experience with scripting or automation tools such as PowerCLI, Python, Ansible, or Terraform is an advantage.
