Role Overview
• The Global Head of Automotive and R&D Engineering is one of the most senior and strategically significant leadership positions within DXC Engineering Services. This executive leads large and established business domain Automotive Engineering while simultaneously spearheading our expansion into adjacent ER&D verticals including but not limited to Advanced Manufacturing, Consumer Electronics, Aerospace, and Logistics & Transportation Services.
• This is a senior management role with full P&L ownership, global scope, and a remit to drive both organic growth and market repositioning. The right leader will combine a powerful automotive industry network with a genuine appetite to build new markets — and will understand how to position DXC Engineering Services not simply as an outsourcing partner, but as a software system integrator and smart connected product co-creator.
• With a team of over 3,000 engineers globally, the role demands a leader who operates at the intersection of commercial vision, engineering credibility, and organizational strength.
Hold full P&L accountability for the Automotive and R&D Engineering business globally, ensuring sustainable growth, margin health, and delivery quality.
Lead and evolve the go-to-market strategy for the Automotive portfolio while building parallel growth momentum across Manufacturing, Consumer Electronics, Aerospace, and Logistics & Transportation — industries undergoing profound smart product transformation.
Position DXC Engineering Services as a software system integrator and next-generation ER&D partner — leveraging proprietary IP assets, strategic partnerships, and engineering excellence to differentiate from traditional service providers.
Drive a high-growth, high-performance culture across a globally distributed team; attract, develop, and retain top engineering and commercial talent.
Build and deepen executive-level relationships with OEM clients, Tier 1 suppliers, and enterprise clients across target verticals — with a strong focus on the C-suite and engineering leadership.
Champion cross-selling and solution integration across DXC Engineering Services offerings, creating broader client value and expanding commercial footprint within accounts.
Uphold and promote DXC Engineering Services' heritage of quality, innovation, and transformation across all phases of client engagement and business operations.
Serve as a recognized thought leader in the Automotive and broader ER&D market — representing the company at industry forums, in client engagements, and in strategic conversations with partners.
Enhance the firm's global footprint while driving collaboration across geographies and practice areas.
Must have
A proven general manager with a strong commercial track record in engineering services, ER&D, or product engineering — with demonstrated success scaling a services-oriented business against ambitious revenue targets.
Deep knowledge of the Automotive industry is essential; familiarity with or appetite to expand into adjacent smart product industries (Manufacturing, Consumer Electronics, Aerospace, Logistics) is highly valued.
Established network within the automotive ecosystem — OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and technology partners — and the credibility to open and develop relationships at the C-level.
Proven ability to build and manage a complex P&L, including large multi-year accounts alongside a portfolio of growing and emerging clients.
Experience operating within matrixed organizations where influence, collaboration, and stakeholder alignment are as important as direct authority.
A track record of organizational transformation — able to align large, distributed teams behind a unified client-focused vision and execute against ambitious plans.
Ambidextrous leadership style: strategically oriented, operationally grounded, and commercially relentless.
Ability to articulate and sell the value of software system integration, embedded engineering, and smart product development — both to clients and internally.
Experience attracting, mentoring, and developing senior talent in a high-performance, multicultural environment.
Exceptional communication, executive presence, and the ability to lead from the front in complex sales and client situations.
