We are looking for a skilled Database Support Engineer to manage production and non-production database environments on cloud platforms across IB&M (Investment Banking & Markets) applications. This offshore role requires expertise in cloud database technologies and the ability to ensure high availability, performance, and security of mission-critical database systems.

Responsibilities

Database Administration: Manage and maintain cloud databases across Azure and AWS platforms

Performance Optimization: Monitor, tune, and optimize database performance for optimal application response times

Backup and Recovery: Implement and manage comprehensive backup and disaster recovery strategies

Security Management: Ensure database security compliance, including encryption, access controls, and audit logging

Capacity Planning: Monitor database growth and plan for scaling requirements

Environment Management: Maintain consistency between production and non-production environments

Troubleshooting: Provide 24/7 support for database-related issues and incidents

Change Management: Execute database changes and updates following established procedures

Monitoring: Implement and maintain database monitoring and alerting systems

Documentation: Maintain database documentation, procedures, and runbooks

Skills

Must have

Experience: 6 to 8 years of database administration experience with cloud platforms

Cloud Databases: Expertise in Azure SQL Database, Amazon RDS, Azure CosmosDB, Amazon DynamoDB

Database Engines: Strong knowledge of SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle

Scripting: Proficiency in SQL, PowerShell, Python, or similar languages

Backup Solutions: Experience with cloud-native backup and recovery solutions

Monitoring Tools: Familiarity with database monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, CloudWatch, etc.)

Security: Understanding of database security best practices and compliance requirements

Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, AWS Database Specialty, or equivalent (preferred)

Financial Services: Experience with Investment Banking & Markets applications (preferred)

High Availability: Knowledge of database clustering, replication, and failover strategies (preferred)

Data Warehousing: Experience with data warehouse solutions (Azure Synapse, Amazon Redshift) (preferred)

DevOps: Understanding of database DevOps and CI/CD practices (preferred)

Compliance: Knowledge of financial industry regulations (SOX, Basel III, etc.) (preferred)

Skills and Competencies

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

Ability to work under pressure in critical situations

Strong communication skills for incident management

Proactive approach to problem prevention

Experience with ITIL processes
