Responsibilities

• Design, develop and ship components that accelerate the ability to deliver customer features for numerous teams. • Team up with peers across the organization to build an understanding of cross dependencies and iterate on shared best practices and solutions. • You will contribute to broader architecture discussions to shape how Expedia makes our systems even more resilient, flexible, and scalable to support new use cases, technologies, and increasingly more traffic. • You will write code that is clean, maintainable, optimized, modular with good naming conventions. You will also use software frameworks to write simpler code. • Contribute to and clarify code evolution within diverse code reviews and discussions. • Spot areas of inefficiency in code or systems operation and offer suggestions for improvements.

Skills

Must have

• 5+ years Software Development work experience utilizing at least 2 different languages (Java/Kotlin experience strongly preferred).
• Self starter and quick learner who possesses exceptional attitude and technical aptitude
• Experience working with GraphQL for API development.
• Capable of complex problem solving and critical thinking with an understanding of software design principles, algorithms and data structures.
• Familiarity with software development patterns for Javascript.
• Prior experience with API development.
• Experience designing and optimizing code for robustness, scalability and performance
• Ability to consume specifications, give feedback, provide estimates and translate into implementation.
• Ability to work collaboratively with team members.
• Strong communication skills. You articulate your ideas to peers and leaders, providing details and understanding of your approach. You provide detailed documentation.
• Bachelor's degree or Masters in a related Technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience.

Nice to have

• Knowledge and experience in different front-end technologies (React, MobX, and Typescript)
• Experience with Spring framework
• Experience with analytics tools used for optimizing and measuring web performance
