Project Description

Enterprise Risk & Analytics (EDA) Technology operates horizontally across Global Markets and other divisions to implement strategic risk management infrastructure for a top tier investment bank. The EDA group owns and develops the core technologies which enable delivery of front-to-back applications used for risk management and regulatory reporting, supporting programs supported such as Risk Based P+L, FRTB and Intraday Limit Management.

The Data Engineering team carries out the following functions:
• Sourcing - agreeing data requirements, identifying appropriate data sources and managing delivery of data into EDA
• Integration - ensure on-boarded data integrates with calculators and other application components
• Consumption - support the provision of data to consumers through agreed interfaces
• Validation - define and implement the validations, tools and metrics to be used to measure data quality
• Remediation - drive the remediation of data quality issues at source

Responsibilities

• Undertaking systems analysis in support program deliveries - understanding the calculation requirements and driving data on-boarding in partnership with IT delivery teams across the organisation (FO Risk Management, Reference Data, FO IT, CRO IT) and Quant Strats
• Hands on data analysis, working closely with development teams and QAs, responsible for data flows from source through to successful use in calculations on the platform
• Defining and measuring data quality, conducting root cause analysis into issues (technical and business process) and agreeing remediation plans - including the creation of Python scripts for data quality reporting
• Specifying technical improvements (e.g. interfaces definition, object modelling, data validators)
• Engaging with other IT teams and securing commitment to deliver within their respective books of work

Skills

Must

• Investment Banking experience
• Data analysis and sourcing experience including skills in SQL, Excel and Python
• Experience working in Front Office Risk Management Systems and / or Market Risk
• Reference data sourcing and usage within an Investment Bank
• Agile development practices - Scrum, Jira
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills - fluent written and spoken English
• Detailed oriented - structured and methodical
• Flexible and adaptable, being willing to move focus between components and projects easily
