Operating as part of the newly formed Big Data Practice within the Internet of Things Business Group, you will have the opportunity to be a key part of a team working on a complex and exciting challenges that will align with your passions and skills. In addition you will have the opportunity to help grow the practice by directly building innovative solutions for clients, assisting with proof-of-concepts, or evaluation of new technologies in the market. This is a true engineering position intended for someone who loves to code, embraces open source, and is excited about data. To be successful you should have a solid understanding of new and existing data processing technologies including but not limited to: Hadoop, SQL, NoSQL, Spark and Kafka along with experience with analytic or visualization tools. In addition, having the ability to integrate , aggregate and visualize data using a variety of tools and languages will be very important - you ideally will have some familiarity with traditional BI or data analysis tools and scripting languages. 

Responsibilities:

• Be able to interpret customer needs and requirements on a detailed level and implement the right technical components to deliver. 
• Participate in the analysis and design of a solution that may include selecting technologies or estimating level of effort. 
• Write code supporting the development of big data oriented solutions solving complete data integration or analytic use cases. 
• Assist clients with trouble-shooting of existing solutions related to performance, scalability, maintenance, or cost of ownership 
• Support the installation, configuration, and tuning of various technologies comprising a solution. 
• Support the talent screening and acquisition process for the big data practice. 
• Attend industry conferences and perform hands on evaluations of new products/services 
• Travel to the prospect, client, and conference locations as necessary. 

Skills Required:

• 3+ years of working with large scale data integration and analytics platforms. 
• 2-3 years hands-on experience working with the Hadoop ecosystem. 
• Hands-on experience with data scripting and/or programing tools. 
• Good written and verbal communication skills. 
• Able to work as part of a team and work with minimal supervision. 
• Experience building profiling, analyzing and visualizing data. 
• Familiarity with enterprise scale distributed Traditional Data platforms and NoSQL solutions. 
• Experience operating in professional services or internal consultative role is preferred but not required. 
• Experience with data science enabling technologies such as R, Mahout is a bonus. 

Project Description:

The Big Data Practice Data Tester works closely with architects, engineer, business/technology 
subject matter experts, and other Luxoft consultants to help drive the testing effort throughout 
the lifecycle. They conduct prescribed tests on data and analytics systems prior to their 
implementation to ensure quality, design integrity and proper functionality. 

Responsibilities:

• Translate business and technical requirements into test plans and scenarios. 
• Create quality and testing standards and supporting processes. 
• Participate in design, code, and documentation reviews. 
• Assist in the development of quality and performance benchmarks and report findings and recommendations to the team. 
• Work closely with engineers to develop test harness software (e.g. scripts, programs) and utilize automated testing tools. 
• Coordinate and follow through with execution of test plans, cases, and any remediation. 
• Coordinate setup and management of test environment(s). 
• Configure and execute automated test plans; including data driven and UI testing. 
• Test components for data access, profiling, movement (extract, transform, and load), integration, quality, and processing. 
• Test components for management, storage (DBMS, hybrid), security, and master/metadata. 
• Test components for data mining, analytics, semantic, multi-dimensional/tabular models. 
• Design and create test conditions and scripts. 
• Manage and track defects and problem resolution and ensure that the software and release documentation accurately reflects the contents of new releases. 
• Utilize mechanisms for quality tracking and continuous process improvement. 
• Perform usability and requirements validation testing. 
• Check for usability standards compliance, regulatory conformance, and best practices. 
• Maintain a catalog of test cases and data to facilitate testing programs. 
• Evaluate and manage the use of technology in support of testing.

Skills Required:

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent. 
• 3 to 5 years’ experience in technology solutions or consulting. 
• Trained in data quality, testing tools, and methodologies. 
• Knowledge of various testing techniques and their applicability (e.g. test/data driven, data lineage, unit/component, black-box/white-box, integration/system, user acceptance, performance and regression). 
• Strong Java skills, Scala is desirable, Groovy is a plus 
• Good knowledge of the Big Data, Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence platforms. 
• Good knowledge of testing custom coded applications (Java and/or C#, including UI Code) is required. 
• Good written and oral communication skills. 
• Ability to work with technical and business stakeholders. 
• Strong sense of personal responsibility and teamwork. 
• Knowledge/experience in the financial domain is a plus

• Experience with platforms/system environments handling terabytes is required, however petabyte level environment experience is preferred. 
• Experience building proof of concepts and/or profiling data. 
• Experience with enterprise scale distributed Traditional Data platforms and NoSQL solutions. 
• Knowledge of Cloudera CDH 5.x and Spark + ecosystems both, good overview of Apache (Hadoop: Sqoop, Hive, Oozie…) 
• Experience with Spring XD / Batch is a plus
• Experience with Kafka is highly desirable
• Experience managing team resources in a matrixed environment is beneficial.

Project Description:

A key client is going through a significant organizational realignment while also addressing substantive regulatory audit remediation commitments. One of the major outcomes of these activities is the creation of a centralized “Production Assurance” team to manage all Change Management, Quality Assurance and Production Services capabilities for the division to resolve key regulatory concerns and provide a structure to drive enhanced production quality and stability, improve effectiveness and efficiency, standardize process and technology, and provide effective governance and control.

Responsibilities:

• Accountable for initiating, developing and communicating enterprise-wide Application architecture standards, practices, and policies 
• Drive the creation and maintenance of the current and future directives of the IT Organization. 
• Furthermore, this job serves as an advisor to IT Leadership to determine business impact through cost/benefit evaluation 
• Define test strategies/approach depending on the project specifics 
• Clarify functional requirements with the business analysts, identify and report gaps between requirements and the implementation plans 
• Develop and execute test cases, testing plans and procedures 
• Manual testing of the multicomponent systems 
• Work with the development team to test the software and business processes developed to ensure they satisfy the business requirements, and meet the design/specification 
• Suggest and implement improvements to the processes impacting project quality 
• Create and maintain the regression test suite to guarantee the best coverage from the business perspective 
• Identify non-functional requirements, convert them into test cases 
• Interact with the production support and testing teams 
• Prepare and conduct demo sessions for the stakeholders 
• Identify and report defects, track them till resolution 
• Prepare testing status reports 
• Lead and coach less experienced QA team members 

Skills Required:

• English is a must (Upper-Intermediate or higher) 
• 8+ years of experience with IT Architecture and 3+ years as IT Architect 
• Degree in Computer Science 
• Good communication skills 
• Superior understanding of testing approaches and methodologies 
• Perfect understanding of Agile and Waterfall SDLC 
• Experience setting up quality related processes and monitoring of their effectiveness, quality metrics collection 
• Knowledge of SQL to analyze data and determine patters 
• Knowledge/experience in the financial domain is a plus 
• Knowledge of any programming/scripting language as a plus
